TEARS FOR FEARS

Dentro de mi imaginario personal e intransferible y de mi memoria melómana, los Tears for Fears ocupan un lugar preferencial, supongo que fueron uno de los tantos grupos que consiguió extraer toda la cera acumulada en mis oídos hasta mi adolescencia a base de rítmicos temas interpretados con esa voz tan rica en matices de la que es poseedor Roland Orzabal.

Se puede decir que mi crecimiento musical fue a la par del auge de este prestigioso grupo radicado en la localidad de Bath formado por Curt Smith y el polifacético Roland Orzabal.Aparecieron allá por 1983, su éxito fue meteórico jalonado por canciones de tanta calidad como Pale Shelter, Mad World o su tema de estreno Change.

El dúo Smith-Orzabal siempre se caracterizó por unas composiciones intimistas, tremendamente líricas aderezadas por el aterciopelado timbre impreso por la sinuosa voz de Orzabal, con un fondo esencialmente dominado por los teclados y unas letras que se involucran directamente en temas tan humanos y tan candentes como la vida, el amor, la amistad, el planeta, la política.

De sus brillantes cabezas brotaron temas de referencia como Everybody wants to rule the world, denuncia de la flagrante avaricia humana, Shout, toda una declaración de intenciones, I believe, desesperado canto a la tristeza, Woman In Chains, una decidida proclama contra la opresión de la mujer o esa ráfaga de aire fresco en forma de canción que responde al título de Sowing the seeds of love, un edificante sátira al servicio de la ruptura de las cadenas que nos atenazan y del reencuentro con ese sentimiento que rige los destinos humanos, el amor.
